Chicago Bears: 10 bold predictions following Khalil Mack trade

For four years, Carr and Mack were two of the pillars of the Oakland Raiders, charged with among other things, changing the team's culture, and re-establishing what it truly meant to play "Raiders football". Defensive tackle Justin Ellis called it a bittersweet moment.

Gruden and Carr are excited about both working together and the new wrinkles in the offense that they will unveil against the Rams.

"When we first came in, we planned the next 10 to 15 years of our life, and I think that's the weirdest part, is that it's a little bit of a different chapter now", Carr explained in his first comments since Saturday's trade. Obviously, when it first happened I'm like hold on, I am going to have to talk to some guys and things like that. What better way to kick off the 100th season of play for the Green Bay Packers than against their long-time rivals?

Oakland, which included a second-round pick in 2020 and a conditional fifth-rounder in the deal, received Chicago's first-round picks in the next two years along with a sixth-round selection in 2019 and a third-round pick in 2020. Mack was holding out in search of a massive contract extension and promptly received a six-year, $141 million extension with $90 million guaranteed upon being traded to the Bears.

"It was very hard for us. but it was also like a bittersweet moment for us", Ellis said. "But it is what it is - it's part of the business". Irvin had a similar, albeit more colorful, message.

Africa has long embraced Chinese investment, helping make Beijing the continent's largest trading partner for the past decade. South African President Cyril Ramaphosa also rebuffed suggestions that China is taking advantage of the continent.

"I'm anxious to hear this one, Jon Gruden and Khalil Mack talking about the trade", McDonough said.

"I was lucky enough to play for two great organizations", Bennett said a year ago.

"It wasn't my goal to trade Khalil when we got here". We won't be able to win a ring together. "He understood that a lot of us were close with him".

Carr and Mack became quick friends as rookies and spent many hours discussing ways to turn around a franchise that had been mired in chaos for more than a decade.

While the Bears were willing to give Mack an contract he desire, the Raiders were not. I want to be known as the best to play the game. That's the only thing we won't cross off the list.

"It's very, very tough to say goodbye to a great player, but here we are today".
