TWO British tourists were among seven injured by a rampaging knifeman in Paris on Sunday night.
The man, said to be an Afghan national, was arrested.
A bystander fought off the attacker with balls from a petanque game, a local kind of bowling, until police arrived.
The man had initially stabbed two men and a woman near the MK2 cinema.
Police didn't provide information about the identities of the victims, but said they included two British tourists.
One was particularly badly hurt after being "stabbed in the head", while the other was "cut in the chest".
The pair were then attacked, he said.
The attacker was wrestled to the ground by locals and then placed under arrest by a police anti-criminality squad.... "They started throwing pétanque balls at him", he said.
