Apple's iOS 12 is now here after months of beta seeds and excitement.

Earlier today, Apple released its new Siri Shortcuts iOS app, which came in the form of an update to the existing Workflow app, which Apple acquired last spring.

The list of compatible iPhone models include iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max, iPhone Xr, iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone SE and iPhone 5s. I have been using the iOS 12 beta ever since it came out, and the performance has been so much better than iOS 11, it's actually unbelievable.

Managing notifications on the iPhone and iPad can be frustrating. If any widespread issues affect the iOS community, we'll be sure to pass on the details. Instead of seeing a long list of notifications iOS 12 now groups them for you -not just by the app but also by topic and thread. You'll see it somewhere on your home screen, and you can always swipe down on the home screen and search for "Measure" to find it.

Finally, Apple says that it's improved performance on iOS with the update to iOS 12. Once you've backed up your device, you can go ahead and start downloading iOS 12.

If you prefer to silence notifications altogether, you can use the "Do Not Disturb" feature to quiet them during a specific stretch of time or while you're at a particular place-say, the playground with your kids. As the name suggests, all your calls and notifications will be muted until you toggle Do Not Disturb off.

In addition to those patches, iOS 12 delivers new security features aimed at protecting you and the data you store on your device. Perhaps the most immediate practical example is Apple's new Measure app, which allows you to measure surfaces using your iPhone's camera just by pointing your phone at a surface and drawing a line.

Citymapper and Siri ShortcutsCitymapper walks you through adding Siri Shortcuts. So when you lose your keys, you can let Siri know and it will automatically start ringing your Tile.

AR Tools. Apple is adding to its developer's kit new tools that take full advantage of the hardware in iPhones and iPads.

You can now add filters like animated text effects, stickers, Memoji, and more when taking pictures on iMessage or during a video call on FaceTime.

Performance According to Apple, the latest iOS 12 brings an improved performance on older iPhone models. Sadly, the app took a lot of messing around with to get anything close to an accurate measurement.

If you plan on getting the updates today, it's a good idea to backup your iPhone beforehand. When you use a card while the low-power mode is active you'll only get haptic feedback (slight vibration) when a transaction is successful.
