Malaysia again questions Najib and Rosmah in 1MDB probe

Media reports on Tuesday had said Rosmah had been asked to present herself to the MACC headquarters yesterday morning to assist its investigations.

Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor was taken into custody today while she was giving her statement at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters, here, today.

"Rosmah will face several charges", the agency said in a statement.

Investigations into the alleged looting of state fund 1MDB by an audacious worldwide fraud ring have already seen her husband Najib Razak hit with more than two dozen charges including corruption and money laundering.

At a press conference after Rosmah's arrest, Kumaraendran said presently, he was not aware how many charges his client will face.

The Umno Supreme Council member was referring to Najib's expected presence at the courts tomorrow for his first ever case management, after pleading not guilty to multiple charges of corruption and criminal breach of trust.

Anti-graft investigators spent almost 13 hours recording Rosmah's statement last week as part of their inquiry into 1MDB.

"I can accept taking action on a man who was in power, but putting the women in his life in harm's way is going too far", she wrote on Instagram, citing a recent police raid on the house of Najib's mother as well as Rosmah's arrest.

Najib, 64, himself faced questioning on Wednesday by the anti-money laundering and anti-terror financing division of Malaysia's police over a money laundering inquiry, media said.

The couple's world has been turned upside down since Najib lost the May election to his one-time mentor Mahathir Mohamad, who swiftly reopened a probe into 1MDB.
