The Giants lost 33-31 Sunday when Panthers K Graham Gano nailed a 63-yard field goal as time expired (an anomaly as kickers continued to miss numerous kicks around the league), falling to 1-4 on the season. He was the first Panthers player ever to kneel during the national anthem.
After the game he discussed his decision to bring the protest from (generally thought of as progressive) San Francisco to (generally thought of as not) Carolina.
He said Reid's new teammates are more eager to see what he does on the field rather than what he does before the game.
At the quarter mark of the season, the Giants rank 25th in offense and 11th in defense in terms of yards.
It was a game of two acts for the Carolina Panthers, who played spectacularly in the first half and abysmal in the second, with the exception of special teams, which remained superb all the way through.
"We're going to keep an eye on him", Rivera said. That's the real part of this, and that's where we're at. "I was thinking to myself, I hope he was and is as excited as everyone is having him".
"Everybody in this [locker room], everybody who watches this game [and] everybody in this country knows what we're talking about".
Government to send test alert messages Wednesday to cell phones
It has grown more sophisticated since it was created in the 1950s, and now includes a system to send warnings to cellphones, too. These alerts will come from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Federal Communications Commission ( FCC ).
The Carolina Panthers are coming off a 31-21 win over the Cincinnati Bengals last time out, and this week it hosts the New York Giants as 7-point favorites at Noon on FOX.
It has been said often but it's worth repeating: Cam Newton is a large man.
According to head coach Pat Shurmur, running back Saquon Barkley is "fine" after appearing to injure his knee in Sunday's game. But surprisingly he has yet to have 20 carries in a game this year.
Saquon Barkley has led the team in rushing and done almost all of the work out of the backfield, but he has yet to really break out in the form most expect he eventually will. Four passes, 75 yards. and nearly no resistance whatsoever.
Entering this season, it was expected to be a three team race between the New Orleans Saints, Atlanta Falcons and the Panthers.
He broke four on his 18-yard carry, a reverse pitched to him by actual running back Christian McCaffrey. So it shouldn't be too hard to figure out what Carolina wants to do Sunday. Latimer has the longest passing play of the season for the G-Men when he hauled 37-yard yard pass against the Cowboys.
