Walt Disney Studios has just released the first teaser trailer for "Aladdin".

Will Smith has given Disney fans a reason to get excited tonight.

As nearly everyone knows, Genie has been trapped inside the lamp for thousands of years, but once the street-rat-turned-phony-prince Aladdin rubs its side, Genie is finally free. We've been waiting a long time to see Will Smith's Genie, but he wasn't in the first look footage. With nothing else to go on, I'm not sure if I'm excited for not, but I would like to see Will Smith acting all insane as the Genie. Will shined in various different Genie looks.

Along the way he falls in love with Princess Jasmine, enlists the genie's help to make him a prince and win her heart - all while running afoul of the sorcerer Jafar.

Aladdin is among a series of live-action remakes Disney has been working on.

The filmmaker later hired Numan Acar as Hakim, Navid Negahban as The Sultan, Marwan Kenzari as Jafar and Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine. It's fitting that Smith was the one to tease the trailer, as he also shared the first photo of the cast on set in September 2017.

Aladdin rides his magic carpet into cinemas May 24, 2019 and TBH we can't wait. Disney is also developing live-action remakes for their streaming service - titles like The Sword in the Stone and Lady and the Tramp.
