Raiders trade Amari Cooper to Cowboys for No. 1 pick

Cooper, the fourth overall pick in the 2015 draft, is a bona fide No. 1 receiver.

When Jon Gruden and Co. traded Khalil Mack to the Chicago Bears in September, it became clear that the Raiders were hitting the reset button and looking toward their future in Las Vegas.

While Cooper heading to the Cowboys may help his own fantasy football value, what's also interesting to consider is the value of Raiders wideout Jordy Nelson. If their scoring unit is unable to turn things around in 2018, the Raiders could be acquiring a top-10 pick in next April's draft. And Cowboys receivers haven't made many big plays in their first season without Bryant and retired tight end Jason Witten, the club leader in catches. It didn't help that he has just 22 catches for 280 yards through six games this season. Cooper has been held under 30 yards receiving in 13 of his past 26 games. "His past drops and injuries have been the biggest concerns".

The Cowboys made the playoffs once in two-plus seasons with Williams, in 2009, when they won the franchise's first postseason game since the last of five Super Bowl victories following the 1995 season.

The scout followed up by saying Cooper was a different player in his first two years.

Salary-cap space will not be an issue for the Cowboys, although they want to re-sign leading pass-rusher DeMarcus Lawrence, cornerback Byron Jones and can look at long-term deals for Ezekiel Elliott and Prescott as early as this offseason.

Cooper is in the NFL's concussion protocol after suffering the injury October 14 in Oakland's loss to Seattle in London.
