Kohli crossed the 10,000-run milestone in his 205th innings in Viskhapatnam before proceeding to belt his second successive ton of the five-match series.

The 29-year-old achieved the feat during the second ODI of the ongoing five-match series against West Indies in Vishakhapatnam.

The right-arm bowler added that he will continue to feel the same passion for the sport he felt throughout his career.

Director of Cricket, Jimmy Adams, in his tribute said: "Dwayne has been an outstanding performer across all three formats of the game. Full house and credit to the West Indies team as well, they showed great heart", said Kohli, adding Hetmyer and Hope had put on a "beautiful partnership".

India and Virat Kohli could do with the experience and pedigree of Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar as the Windies batting took a liking to the pace attack in the first two matches.

The Cricket Club of India, which is hosting the fourth One-Day International (ODI) between India and Windies, announced on Wednesday that cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar will inaugurate the game. Fortune, too, was on Kohli's side as West Indies skipper Jason Holder dropped his Indian counterpart on 44. The second one was Ambati Rayudu's taking up responsibility for the squad after India lost openers, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan. Rayudu was bowled by spinner Ashley Nurse.

Kohli also took over Tendulkar's aggregate of 1,573 to become India's highest run-getter in ODIs against the Windies. The next year in 2017, Kohli maintained an average of 76.84 in 26 innings to score 1460 runs.

"Lovely partnership between both those guys but the way two teams played it was a fair result", Indian captain Virat Kohli said after the match.
