In addition to the 20 USA closings, the news release stated Lowe's will close 31 Canadian stores.

The company said it would provide more details on the impact of the store closings when it releases its third-quarter earnings November 20.

"We believe our people are the foundation of our business and essential to our future growth", said CEO Marvin R. Ellison.

An accompanying news release describes the 51 locations, 20 of them in the USA, as "underperforming".

Lowe's on Thomas Burgin Parkway in Quincy is the only store in MA impacted by the closures.

The event will be live on Sony Ten 1, Sony Ten 1HD (both English) and Ten 3, Ten 3HD (both Hindi). The New Day during their entrance even said, "Ohhhhhhh Crown Jewel " instead of Saudi Arabia.

Lowe's is closing 51 underperforming stores across the US and Canada.

Lowe's opened the Cornwall location at 950 Brookdale Avenue in 2016 - the same year it bought competitor Rona.

It says most of the impacted stores will close by February 1, 2019. The company said that a "majority" of the shuttered stores are within 10 miles of another Lowe's location.

Lowe's said the US stores are closing immediately. Ellison told investors in August that the smaller OSH stores were not running well and could never become a big part of Lowe's overall business. Northbrook-based Hilco Merchant Services will help manage the store closing process. The company signed a 15-year lease with Ashkenazy Acquisition Corporation for the property, replacing sections of now-closed Macy's.
