Texas Newlyweds Die In Helicopter Crash While Leaving Their Wedding

A helicopter crash outside this south-central Texas county claimed the lives of two newlyweds who had just left their wedding, reports CBS San Antonio affiliate KENS-TV.

Family friend Eric Smith announced the news in a Facebook post Sunday, writing: 'I'm absolutely devastated!

The National Transportation Safety Board reported on Twitter that they're investigating the crash.

According to the Sam Houston State University rodeo team Facebook page, both Will and Bailee were members of the team.

The Uvalde County Sheriff's Office said the department received the call at around midnight Saturday about the crash in the northwest part of the county.

The helicopter had taken off a few kilometres away from the family ranch in Uvalde, Texas, where the ceremony was held.

Wedding attendees have been posting their condolences on social media. "We know both families appreciate all your love, support and kindness during this time".

"I'm so sad to even be captioning these pictures with this, but you know I just have to share with everyone how attractive you looked on your wedding day like I normally would have", Bailee's maid of honor posted on Instagram accompanying a picture of her and the bride in their getting-ready robes and then dressed for the wedding.

"So thankful we got to spend these last few days with y'all". The pilot also reportedly died.

A November 3 wedding date was listed on a website for the Ackerman and Byler nuptials.
