When fully implemented, it will offer capacity and download speeds much faster than a 4G LTE network.

Earlier this year, Motorola and Verizon announced a 5G Moto Mod that adds 5G connectivity to the Moto Z3, with anticipation of releasing the 5G Moto Mod in early 2019. For starters, artificial intelligence (AI) will play a big role with the Snapdragon 855, with its fourth-generation multi-core AI providing a 3x uplift in performance compared to the Snapdragon 845. For example, with the Samsung Galaxy S9 range, the company only used the Qualcomm chipset in the U.S. version and some other variants of the device.

The processor will also feature a built-in Neural Processing Unit (NPU) which is something we expect to see on most flagship mobile processors these days.

We also know that the Snapdragon 855 offers support for 5G connectivity. It's promising to run through the specifics of the mobile platform tomorrow, on the second day of its Snapdragon Summit 2018.
