Ohio State changes could have National Football League impact

The Urban Meyer coaching era at Ohio State will end with the Rose Bowl vs. Washington on January 1, the school confirmed for The Dispatch on Tuesday, and the Ryan Day era will begin in earnest. You could argue that his responses were hard to interpret.

Pressed further, Meyer then said he is "fairly certain" he will not coach again. He probably is genuinely uncertain of what the future will hold.

Smith applauded Meyer's level of success - he has an 82-9 record in seven seasons - and impact at Ohio State.

Day, like Riley at OU, had no real connection to Ohio State. He has never lost more than two games in any one season with the Buckeyes. And, of course, Meyer beat hated rival MI all seven times he faced them, including the last three with Jim Harbaugh as head coach.

Ohio State's inquiry revealed that Meyer had known about domestic abuse allegations against Smith since at least 2015, when police investigated the case - and when, according to Courtney Smith, she told Meyer's wife about it. He also recruited the best player in the history of the program as quarterback Tim Tebow was on the team for both of those titles and became the thrid player in Gators history to win the Heisman Trophy in 2007.

Bush returns to Washington for final time
Bush will be honored at several public and private events in Houston and Washington before his burial on Thursday in Texas. Whenever a president dies, all current and living presidents typically attend the funeral, as well as their partners.

Acting head coach Ryan Day of the Ohio State Buckeyes looks on before the game against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights at Ohio Stadium on September 8, 2018 in Columbus, Ohio. "I tried to delegate more and CEO more and the product started to feel.", he said, not finishing his thought. He sat out one season before taking over the Buckeyes, where he won a national championship in his third season. With one game left to play this season, he has an overall win-loss record of 186-32.

"The truth is you have a football coach who devoted 33 years of my life to student athletes", Meyer said.

Seven years was the longest he lasted at any of the four schools where he coached, following two seasons as Bowling Green, two at Utah and six at Florida.

Meyer led UF from 2005-10. He certainly has a great offensive mind, but he's not Meyer, who outside of Nick Saban, is the best coach in college football. That was thanks in large part to Haskins, who completed 70.2% of his passes (348 of 496) on the year, throwing for 4,580 yards, 47 touchdowns and just eight interceptions-in just his first season of appreciable playing time.

But even before he announced his resignation Tuesday - ostensibly for health reasons - it was becoming increasingly clear that Meyer wouldn't be completing a contract that paid him $7.6 million a season and ran through 2022.
