Elon Musk is pleased that American auto giant GM may become a serious contender against Tesla, but also would consider buying its closed factories, he has said in an interview.

But, according to the terms of the settlement, any tweets pertaining to the automaker, such as one claiming that Tesla will "soon" be roadworthy for completely driverless interactions, would likely fall under the clause pertaining to mandatory "oversight of communications" before being sent to the world (Specifically, the settlement calls out Twitter by name).

"I want to be clear, I do not respect the SEC, I do not respect them", Musk said when asked about the SEC lawsuit brought against Musk earlier this year.

It was during this part of the 60 Minutes interview that Musk made clear exactly what he thinks of the independent federal agency. The part that requires pre-approval of communications that could affect the stock price technically must be in place by December 28, the company said.

As you may recall, this all started in August, when Musk took to Twitter to tell his 23.6 million followers that he had secured funding to return Tesla to private ownership via way of an oblique drug reference.

"I guess we might make some mistakes", he says.

Musk faced scrutiny this year for several controversies, including his battle with a Thai cave rescue diver, a settlement with the SEC and Tesla's production speed. Musk on pot:I do not smoke pot, as anyone who watched that podcast could tell, I have no idea how to smoke pot.

"No", responds Musk. "The only tweets that would have to be reviewed is if a tweet had a probability of causing a movement in the stock". I'm just being me. He was forced to resign as chairman but allowed to remain CEO. "Yeah. It, it's not realistic in the sense that I am the largest shareholder in the company". There's no option.Musk on the charges of abusive conditions at Tesla factories:Well, it's important to emphasize that there's been an aggressive campaign by the UAW to absolutely attack Tesla with a load of nonsense in-in order to try to unionize the company. "I actually just prefer to have no titles at all". Musk said he would not be interested.

Tesla now only has one assembly plant, located in Fremont, California.
