Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer D-N.Y., vowed Democrats will not provide any additional funding for a wall at the USA southern border, The Hill is reporting.

During an interview with NPR's Morning Edition on December 12, Rep. Warren Davidson said that he had offered what he referred to as a "modest proposal" in the form of his "Buy a Brick, Build a Wall Act".

Earlier Thursday, Trump as part of his latest tweetstorm - he also went after former lawyer Michael Cohen and ex-national security adviser Mike Flynn for cooperating with the feds Russian Federation probe - Trump repeated his claim that Mexico would pay for the wall, but with a twist.

The United States, Mexico, and Canada came to an agreement on the USMCA which is essentially a renegotiation of the North American Free Trade Agreement.

On Thursday, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said he did not discuss the wall when he spoke with Trump on Wednesday to talk about the issue of migration.

"Well, Mr. President, if you say Mexico is going to pay for the wall through NAFTA, which it certainly won't, then I guess we don't have to".

"At the end of the day, the American taxpayer is still paying for it", he said.

Following a heated argument with Democratic leaders at the White House on Tuesday, it has become abundantly clear that Trump faces a tough fight over the next two years on border enforcement.

Earlier this week in a meeting with Democratic leaders Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi, Trump claimed that he would "shut down the government" on December 21 over border security if Congress does not approve $5 billion in funding for a border wall.

But Trump has still not responded to the two options the Democratic leaders provided him for keeping all agencies of the government open beyond December 21.

Someone over at the Department of Homeland Security is using a terribly-programmed bot to write their press releases or they just can't write proper English.

"He's taking full responsibility for a Trump shutdown", she said. "When we have installed wall in Yuma Sector, we have seen border apprehensions decrease by 90 percent", it says.

If there were a shutdown lasting into January, Pelosi said the new Democratic House majority would quickly pass legislation to reopen government. We are not replacing short, outdated and ineffective wall with similar wall. The Mexican president, however, denied that the two discussed wall funding during their call, which was about immigration.

"Nothing is going to change in that regard", she said.
