Indiana Attorney General Curtis Hill on a federal judge in Texas ruling ObamaCare is unconstitutional.

Late last week, U.S District Judge Reed O'Connor ruled Obamacare is unconstitutional and put the future of the massive government program in question.

Most people, including those in the White House, expect the appeals process will land the case before the Supreme Court.

He added, "Not only does tonight's ruling confirm that this broken law can not hold up under court scrutiny, but it also affirms that the law does not actually protect people with preexisting conditions". On top of that, they said if the mandate is struck down, the entire law should be nullified because the provision is so vital.

"The ACA has already survived more than 70 unsuccessful repeal attempts and withstood scrutiny in the Supreme Court", he said. Hurts families badly. We have a chance, working with the Democrats, to deliver great HealthCare! An earlier appellate court decision, involving a number of the states in this case, invalidated the individual mandate but held the entire remainder of the ACA to be valid. While President Donald Trump and lawmakers such as incoming House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) cheered the development, some in the party called for bipartisanship to address the failings of the country's health care system.

Supporters of the law immediately said they would appeal.

Other insurers that slipped included Molina Healthcare Inc. and Anthem Inc., companies that have benefited from either the insurance exchanges or the law's Medicaid expansion.

That, in part, helps explain why so many Republican candidates claimed to support those protections while campaigning in the 2018 midterms, despite the fact that a group of Republican state attorneys general filed the lawsuit that resulted in Friday's ruling, which threatens to wipe away the ACA's protections if upheld.

U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi condemned the ruling and promised that the House of Representatives would participate in appeals after control of the legislative body passed to the Democrats in 2019. "In the short run, this decision will be stayed pending appeals".

The GOP's struggle to unify around a policy was on full display on Capitol Hill previous year when there wasn't enough consensus among Senate Republicans to pass a narrowly-crafted Obamacare repeal bill, despite the fact that congressional Republicans had rallied around calls to repeal the law during President Barack Obama's administration.

Once the mandate tax was removed, "there's no longer a constitutional basis for Obamacare".

"In the interim, it provides Congress with a real opportunity recognizing that Obamacare is on life support to pull together and make a determination of the things that we need to do to provide sufficient healthcare for all Americans including pre-existing conditions", he said, after show host Steve Doocy complained his own daughter has deductibles on her own Obamacare plan that are too hard to meet.

The healthcare industry has long awaited a decision in Texas v. Azar, since the US District Court for the Northern District of Texas heard arguments this past September.
