Jones reclaimed the light heavyweight title he previously held, scoring a third round TKO victory.

A capacity crowd of 15,862 in Southern California watched another groundbreaking achievement by Nunes, the ferocious brawler who calls herself 'The Lioness'.

Both fighters came out swinging early on but it was Nunes who landed the first decisive blow of the bout having stepped up in weight class.

Cyborg had been the heavy favourite going into the fight but took her defeat graciously.

"In the first fight, I stayed in his punching range", said Jones, who worked heavily on his boxing during his most recent suspension. The two traded shots early, but it was Nunes closing the gap and getting the better of the exchange, snapping Cyborg's long win streak.
