Co-host Sandra Oh, who was born in Canada of Asian descent, paid tribute to the slew of Golden Globe-nominated films and TV shows featuring black and Asian actors and directors, including "Crazy Rich Asians", "Black Panther", and "BlacKkKlansman". The Egyptian-American won a Critics" Choice Award and the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his performance in "Mr. Robot'.

But adding spice to the mix on Sunday are programmes that aired too late for Emmys contention.
