Fourth-seeded Daniil Medvedev reached the semifinals at the Brisbane International by beating Milos Raonic 6-7 (2), 6-3, 6-4 on Friday.

Eying his 12th title in his 26th career final, Nishikori will take on the victor of the second semifinal clash pitting Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga against Daniil Medvedev of Russian Federation.

Nishikori, seeded at No. 2, demolished the Frenchman 6-2 6-2 in an hour and six minutes of action to set up a final against Daniil Medvedev.

Medvedev reached the decider with a 7-6 (8/6), 6-2 win over France's Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

The former world number one shook off a frustrating first set loss, making a dramatic comeback in the second, and finally getting the better of a defiant Tsurenko who succumbed to an ankle injury in the final set which slowed her play.

A quick break helped Nishikori reset as he built a double break, with the insurance coming in handy when broken serving for the title at 5-1.

The AGP had entered into an alliance with the BJP before the 2014 polls and was opposed to the Bill since the beginning. The Bill endorses citizenship for all religious minorities from neighbouring Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan.

"It was a odd match today, but the beginning of the sets was important. It was good tennis and I'm just really happy with the way I played".

"I just tried to change the things around a little bit and believed I was going to get a chance".

But the 22-year-old Russian responded by capitalising on his first opportunity to secure a break in the match in the second game of the next set.

Once as high as number four in the world, Nishikori drifted out to 39 in April previous year before lifting himself back inside the top 10.

The Croatian had earlier dismantled last year's finalist Aliaksandra Sasnovich 6-2 6-0.

However, the 33-year-old Frenchman - playing with a protected ranking in Brisbane - produced a strong performance to beat De Minaur 6-4 7-6 (7-2).

"When you're able to turn these matches around, it gives you some extra and different confidence", Pliskova said. "I served well, I returned well - I think that was the key today - and I was moving well, that was fantastic".
