Francesa offered an optimistic take on Gase's coaching attributes. Could you imagine McCarthy joining forces with a talented quarterback in Matthew Stafford and being given the opportunity to get revenge on the Packers twice a year? Perhaps they hire the coach that beat them in Super Bowl XLV.

All those options, and probably many more, are likely on the table for McCarthy as he awaits his return to the sidelines in 2020.

McCarthy, 55, said Wednesday that he will sit out the 2019 season.
